• Moonlight Basin

  

   

  During the construction of Moonlight Basin, the project team required a flooring assembly that would meet stringent acoustic performance standards while addressing material availability and cost challenges during the COVID-19 supply chain disruptions.

  Homasote 440 SoundBarrier was selected as the ideal solution, allowing the team to maintain the required STC and IIC ratings while reducing the reliance on plywood, which had become both scarce and expensive. The revised assembly also improved constructability by replacing particleboard with OSB or plywood and substituting mineral wool with fiberglass where appropriate.

  The result was a cost-effective, high-performance flooring system that met the project’s acoustic requirements without compromising quality or constructability.

  The Ace Hotel required effective sound control within guest rooms to enhance occupant comfort while maintaining the project’s unique architectural aesthetic. Homasote 440 SoundBarrier was installed in select wall assemblies to improve room acoustics and provide additional decorative interest throughout the space.
