Thermasote® and N.C.F.R.® Thermasotea® Nailbase Roof Insulation
Thermasote® is a composite of strong, asbestos-free, insulating, weather-resistant,
nailable 440 Homasote plus polyisocyanurate foam and a bottom facer of asphalt-saturated
felt, fibrous glass, or foil.
N.C.F.R.® Thermasotea® is Class A composite of strong, asbestos-free, insulating, weather-resistant, nailable N.C.F.R. Homasote plus polyisocyanurate foam and a bottom facer of fibrous glass.
Uses
The Thermasote family of nailbase insulation is designed for application
over Homasote roof decking, wood, or other structural decking, to provide
insulation and energy conservation. It is particularly useful as roof
insulation in exposed beam systems where the most efficient location of
this insulation is above the structural deck, and the use of asphalt,
fiberglass or wood shingles, slate or tile requires that they be installed
over a nail base substrate. It can also be used as a sound deadening component
in ceilings and floors.

WARNING: While the Homasote portion of the Thermasote panel provides
a satisfactory nail base, the polyisocyanurate will decompose above 450°F
and will ignite and burn at 600°F to 700°F or when exposed to open flame.
Therefore, the polyisocyanurate side should not be exposed.
